Today we’re excited to announce the launching of several new websites for our most recent client, Vermont Electric Power Company (VELCO). In addition to the company’s primary website, VELCO required separate sites for planning committees and subsidiaries. Each site comes bundled with our proprietary content management system, custom tools and much more. We also built each using responsive design to provide consistent desktop/mobile experiences. Take a look at the new sites and learn a bit about where your electricity comes from today!
Vermont Stage Company’s 2014-15 season gets underway in about 6 weeks, but the play posters we designed for this season’s shows are ready now! This is actually the seventh year our friends and long-time clients at VSC have commissioned Vermont Design Works for their play posters, a project our designer always thoroughly enjoys. Check out what we put together for this season’s 4 new plays and then go order your Vermont Stage season subscription – shows sell out fast!
Our friends and long-time clients at the Energy Co-op of Vermont returned to us once again this year to help develop and grow one of their products into a brand that stands on its own: Co-op Heat Pumps. In order to help facilitate the growth of this brand, Co-op Heat Pumps needed its own search engine optimized website, which we’re excited to announce launched a few weeks back.
Mid-year mark is upon us as well as our mid-year holiday break. VDW will be closed on Friday, July 4th and re-open at 9 am on Monday, July 7th.

With less than a week left before the 2014 Vermont Chamber Business & Industry EXPO, we thought it was time to tell you a bit about the event and what we’ll be doing there this year. In addition to being exhibitors again this year, VDW owner Andrew Allen will be giving a presentation entitled “8 Web Essentials You Need Before Social Media”. Check out the seminar for a crash course in online marketing and then stop by booth 148 to talk about your upcoming web development or marketing project!
News is spreading across the web about the Heartbleed bug that affects OpenSSL. This may seem like Greek to you but if you are doing anything on the web, you MUST pay attention. First, don’t panic. Second, read about what’s happening below. And third, change your passwords.
With spring comes trade show season in Vermont. We are gearing up for the Lake Champlain Chamber of Commerce’s Small Biz Summit on Wednesday, March 26th. Running from 8:30 am to 5 pm at the Sheraton in South Burlington, the day will be filled with workshops designed for small business owners. We will be among 40+ exhibitors who specialize in meeting the needs of small and medium sized businesses.
In the summer of 2012 we wrote about our partnership with Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund to create the Vermont Food System Atlas, which we’re proud to announce launched earlier last year! As you may remember, VSJF envisions the VT Food Atlas as essentially being the information hub for their Farm to Plate Initiative.
VDW is OPEN today, Friday, February 14, 2014. We have a limited crew in the office with others working remotely. Please be patient with us as we return messages. Note, we will also be open on Monday, President’s Day, February 17th.
In the meantime, enjoy the white stuff and take a moment to clear your furnace vents and neighborhood fire hydrants.
We’re gearing up for another Code of BTV Hackathon. This one is especially close to our hearts as we’ll work with our friends involved with the Vermont Farm to Plate Network at NOFA Vermont’s Winter Conference this weekend.
