The Flynn Center for the Performing Arts is one of Burlington’s most enduring and vibrant cultural institutions. Its performances attract large and enthusiastic audiences – but the online ticketing system on the Flynn's old website was difficult and frustrating to use. As the largest regional ticketing service in Vermont, the Flynn was eager to provide a better experience for its customers and looked to Vermont Design Works for a solution.
The new Flynn site, which represents a complete overhaul of the design, ticketing system, and interface all developed by Vermont Design Works, was launched in December 2009.
Prior to this, the programming of the ticketing portion of the website was done by an out-of-state company specializing in interfaces for online ticketing databases (although Vermont Design Works had periodically been contracted to implement design upgrades in the past). This time, however, the Flynn decided to scrap its old interface and allow VDW to design a better ticketing system.
Other Vermont theaters that currently use FlynnTix have expressed strong interest in the new system. In addition to an improved user experience, they also like the idea of working with a local web team instead of an out-of-state provider.
