Email Accounts
Our hosting package includes 10 email (POP) accounts. You can buy additional email accounts for $5/month for 5 accounts. There is no limit on the number of email accounts you can buy.
Along with your main email accounts, you can set up unlimited aliases, which are additional email addresses that are directed to a particular email account. For example, your office manager might receive email at her POP account address of “jsmith@vermontcompany.com”, and also from the aliases “joan@vermontcompany.com”, “info@vermontcompany.com”, and “mainoffice@vermontcompany.com”.
There are a number of reasons why such aliases are useful. First of all, if you set up aliases for job functions, you will be able to have a smooth transition if someone leaves or goes on vacation – you will simply direct the alias for that job to the POP account of the person who is taking over the position. Also, if you have multiple aliases based on people’s names, people will be able to send email to any permutation of that name, without worrying that the email will bounce back (i.e. people will be able to send emails to “joan@vermontcompany.com”, “jsmith@vermontcompany.com” and “joansmith@vermontcompany.com”, and it will all come to the right person). Finally, aliases are useful for minimizing SPAM. Every email address that is published to a website will sooner or later be picked up by spammers. If you use an alias on your website, you will be able to change it periodically to prevent SPAM from getting out of control.
