Email Spam Filter Installation

Step 1 of 3

First create a new folder called "Spam" or whatever you would like it to be called.

This is the folder where mail tagged as spam will arrive when you check your mail.

On the "Tools" menu, choose "Filters". You will see a popup window similar to this:

Proceed to step 2

Step 2 of 3

Click the "New" button at the bottom left of the window. This creates a new filtered called "Untitled".

On the right-hand side of the window, only the checkbox marked "Incoming" should be checked.

Change the "Header:" dropdown to "Subject:".

Change the next dropdown to "starts with". (It defaults to "contains".)

In the box to the right of that dropdown, enter "***SPAM***" without the quotes.

Leave the next dropdown as it is. It should say "ignore".

Under the "Action" section, choose "Transfer To" then select the folder you created in step 1 from the dropdown list of folders that appears.

Your window should now look like this:

Proceed to step 3

Step 3 of 3

On the "File" menu, choose "Save".

Close the Filters window by clicking the X at the top right corner of the window.

All incoming mail that contains "***SPAM***" at the start of the subject line should now appear in the new folder you created.
