Email Spam Filter Installation

Step 1 of 5

On the "Tools" menu, choose "Message Filters...".

You should see a window similar to the following:

From the dropdown list at the top of the window, choose the mail account for which you want to filter spam. If you only have one email account, it will already be selected.

Click the "New..." button at the top right of the window.

You should see a window similar to the following:

Give your new filter a name, such as "Spam Filter".

In the first dropdown box, make sure that the "Subject" option is selected. It should be selected by default.
In the second dropdown box, select "begins with".

In the text box to the right, enter "***SPAM***".

Towards the bottom of the window, underneath the text that says "Perform these actions:" check the box that says "Move to folder:".

Click the "New Folder..." button to the right on that same line.
A new popup window will appear, similar to the following

Enter a name for the folder you want to move the spam messages to, such as "Spam".

Click the small down-pointing arrow in the dropdown box below the folder name box.

In the list that appears, choose the name of your email account.

In the secondary list that appears, choose "choose this for the parent".

Click the "OK" button.

Your Filter Rules window should now look similar to the following:

Click the "OK" button.

Your Message Filters window should now look similar to the following:
Close the window by clicking the X in the upper right corner of the window.
All incoming mail that contains "***SPAM***" at the start of the subject line should now appear in the new folder you created.
