Email Spam Filter Installation

Step 1 of 13

From the "Tools" menu, choose "Rules Wizard".

You should see a window similar to the following:

Click the "New..." button.

You should see a window similar to the following:

Make sure that "Check messages when they arrive" is selected in the first box, and that the second box only says "Apply this rule after the message arrives".

Click the "Next" button or press Enter.

In the list of checkbox options, check the first box which should be "when received through the specified account".

In the bottom box, click the underlined word "specified".

You should see another popup window similar to the following:

In the "Account:" dropdownbox, select the account for which you want to filter spam. If you only have one email account, it should already be selected.

Click the "OK" button.

In the list of checkbox options at the top of the window, scroll down until you see an option called "with specific words in the subject". Check the box for this option.

In the bottom box, click the underlined words "specific words".

You should see another popup window similar to the following:

In the "Add new:" box, enter "***SPAM***".

Click the "Add" button.

Your popup window should now look like this:

Click the "OK" button.

Your "Rules Wizard" window should now look like this:

Click the "Next >" button.

You should see a window similar to the following:

Check the box at the top that says "move it to the specified folder".
In the bottom box, click the underlined word "specified".

You should see another popup window similar to the following:

Click the "New..." button.

You should see another popup window similar to the following:

Enter a name for the new folder, such as "Spam".

Choose a location for the new folder, such as "Emails".

Click the "OK" button.

Click the "OK" button on the "Rules Wizard" window which reappears.

Your "Rules Wizard" window should now look similar to this:

Click the "Next >" button.

Click the "Next >" button again (unless you wish to add any exceptions to this rule).

You should now see a window similar to the following:

Enter a name for the mail filter rule, such as "Spam".

Make sure the "Turn on this rule" checkbox is checked.

Click the "Finish" button.

Your main "Rules Wizard" window should now look similar to this:

Click the "OK" button.

All incoming mail that contains "***SPAM***" in the subject line should now appear in the new folder you created.
